The Stairs are Done!
A couple of weeks ago I decided to pull off the carpet on the stairs that lead to the second floor. Some of the carpet was detaching and making me worried about one of the little ones falling down the stairs. It turned out to be a bigger job than what was anticipated (as most home repairs are.) After pulling out about 100+ carpet staples on each stair x 15 stairs, sanding, wood puttying, sanding, having our friend Matt do some carpentry work, sanding, caulking, priming then painting and stenciling they are FINALLY done! Woooohooooo! This picture was my inspiration and this person was my helper, and this person was my trouble shooter. Thanks!!

looks cool. but do you understand the implications of a white railing and three little kids AND jesse? tsk tsk.
beautiful!!!!!!!
nice! I had an idea (at my old house) to stencil our last name and the years we lived at the house on the top step, and then let future owners do the same, but I never did. Anyway, it looks great!
looks so great!
You did it again kid. That looks incredible.

Oh my goodness, how did I not find your blog sooner?! It's one of my home-related dreams to have bright colourful stairs like this (as soon as I buy my own place!). Thanks for sharing.

just saw your post via design*sponge. Great job! Would you mind telling me what paint color you used?
It looks great!
Even better than the one you got inspired from.
Thanks everyone!
I used a color called "Golden Moon" from Lowes Valspar brand.
Awesome!!!!! They seem pretty steep but being so cheerful climbing up should be just fun! Congratulations!
LOVE it!!!

this is so fabulous, planning on our new house to be double story and I am definitely going to use this idea. Ava will love bouncing up the stairs, counting as she goes
these stairs are just incredible. oh my gosh. i totally need to do something similar once i finally have my own place!
Love them!
oooo! I love it! We are going to be painting the stair into our attic, and this might be a really fun option!
Thanks for sharing -- well done!
Your stairs are stunning! I love every single number/step. What a marvelous idea. Thank you. Jeri Atkin
Here via Kimba--what a fun paint job!
Those are bold and beautiful. Way to go out on a limb!
Oh my gosh, I can't believe you did that. WOW, they are fabulous!!
That is stupid.
Very Nice! What did you do for a protective top coat? Poly, etc.? And how did you keep it from being slippery if you applied a protective coat?
I totally wnat to paint my stairs but hubby worries they would be too slippery. What have you found? Are you slipping on yours?
They look AMAZING! :)
Where did you buy those numbers? It’s so great! Perfect for your cute little kids. Now they can learn safe stair-climbing and basic counting in one! I’ve been looking at these photos for the nth time. It was lovely, real lovely! Now, you should take care of it. Do a daily carpet cleaning. Boulder cotton cleaners are good for tiny white details, especially on those cute numbers.
Pulling the carpet is a tedious work and pulling it off is a very nice work!
You made me happy!
Very nice work, I love the numbers, I think I will try that on my own stairs. Thanks.

Hi! I am getting ready to do this at my house! Yours are charming! Where did you find your number stencils?
I found a font hat I liked on the computer and printed then cut each number out. Then I traced them on the stairs and hand painted them.
Thank you so much! I'm so impressed! Do you have any other tips before I dive in? I hope mine look half as awesome as yours! :)
