Ontelaunee Park Intertribal Powwow

Carina told me about a Native American powwow that she wanted to go to in the Pocono's this weekend, and at first I the thought of going with all 3 girls (sans Jesse) was a bit too overwhelming to even entertain the idea. After thinking upon the layout of the day and recruiting 2 more amazing ladies (Bess and Nelly) the decision had been made- GO!
It was an hour and half drive up there, but well worth it. I wasn't sure what to expect, I had never been to a powwow before, but it was unbelievably moving. We stepped into a different culture and watched their ceremonial dances, it was beautiful. Not to mention all the sweet dream catchers we scored! The girls had a great time too.

I was in awe total of this woman. She was the head woman's dancer and her name was Hummingbird.


This girl was Madeline and Jane's favorite. She was a scarf dancer and the girls tried to copy all the dances she did by lifting their dresses, Ha!


Overall it was a fabulous day. I really was truly moved and overwhelmed with love for these people.
